Item F5: 1 KNOBCONE PINE 2014 CROP SEEDLING
This item is a package of 1 knobcone pine (Pinus attenuata) seedling from our 2014 crop. This seedling is 6 to 9 inches tall. These seedlings are container grown and will be shipped in the container that they are growing in. The transplant success rate of our container grown stock is 100% if proper care is provided. The knobcone pine (Pinus attenuata) ranges from the mountains of southern Oregon to Baja California with the greatest concentration in northern California and the Oregon-California border. The knobcone pine is recommended for zones 2-10 and 14-21. It grows rapidly to 20 to 80 feet tall, and 20 to 25 feet wide. It can grow well in poor, coarse, rocky, mountain soils. The cones of knobcone pine are highly distinctive; oblique and bent at the apex, and occur in whorls on the branches. Since the cones may become imbedded within the wood of the expanding trunk, this species has been called "the tree that swallows its cones."
