Item I2: 3 WESTERN WHITE PINE 2014 CROP SEEDLINGS
This package contains 3 western white pine seedlings from our 2014 crop. These seedlings are 3 to 4 inches tall. The western white pine (Pinus monticola) is native from northern California north to British Columbia and east to Montana. It grows fast at first and then moderately to slowly to 60 feet tall and 20 wide. The species is easily identified by its three to five inch long needles, which grow in bunches of five, and its stalked cones, which are nearly straight and grow from 5 to 15 inches long. The bark of the mature western white pine is brownish-gray, and is broken into small rectangular blocks. The wood of the western white pine is easily worked with carpenter's tools, and is ideally suited for applications including window and door frames, paneling and shelving. The western white pine is hardy in zones 1-7.
